How to Change Wi-Fi Router Password

How to Change Wi-Fi Router Password

Step 1
Click "Start," type “cmd” in the text box and press “Enter” to launch the command prompt.

Step 2
Type “ipconfig /all” and press “Enter” to view your network configuration.

Step 3
Record the number following the “Default Gateway,” then close the command prompt window. This number is your router’s IP address.

Step 4
Launch your Internet browser, type the IP address number in the address bar and press the “Enter” button. An authentication dialog box will appear.

Step 5
Type your current router administrator username and password in the text boxes. These may still be the default administrator username and password, which you can find in your router’s instruction manual. The default will vary depending on the brand of router you are using, but are often something similar to “admin” as the username and “admin” as the password.

Step 6
Navigate to the “Security” or “Wireless” tab to locate the router Wi-Fi password settings. The location of these settings will vary depending on your router’s brand and model.

Step 7
Type a new Wi-Fi password and save the changes to the router’s configuration.

==>>Tip

If your router still uses the default administrator settings, consider changing the username and password for added security.
